The two applicants to build a state-owned casino south of Wichita, Kan., have each paid a $25 million "privilege fee" to keep their applications current.

One plan is from a subsidiary of Dubuque, Iowa-based Peninsula Gaming. The other is from a subsidiary of Ada, Okla.-based Global Gaming Solutions, which is owned by the Chickasaw Nation.
The fee from the successful applicant will be deposited into a lottery fund. The fee from the unsuccessful applicant will be refunded.
The Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board is expected to select the winning proposal at a meeting Dec. 15 in Topeka.
