Tomorrow morning, workers from the Beau Rivage and IP Casino will testify to the Mississippi Gaming Commission regarding conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fifteen workers between the Beau Rivage and IP Casio have tested positive for COVID-19 since reopening. The casino workers’ union, Unite Here Local 23, says action is urgently needed.

The union is calling for daily cleaning of hotel rooms, stronger enforcement of safety guidelines including masking and social distancing in the casinos, and improved contact training. IP Casino Room Attendant Carolyn Ford said, “Listen to what we have to say. We’re out there with the guests. They’re not out there, we’re out there. So, if a guest comes up to you without a mask on or whatever, you know, they’re not out there, we are.”
