Hotel says Hard Rock lawsuit violates contract - Wall Street Journal

LAS VEGAS — Owners of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas say a federal lawsuit filed by the Hard Rock Cafe chain over their shared name is hurting their bottom line in Nevada and other states.

The counterclaim filed last week in federal court in New York alleges the restaurant chain's lawsuit is a breach of contract

that interferes with Morgans Hotel Group Co.'s business dealings.

The legal battle started in September when the restaurant chain filed suit, claiming the hotel-casino's party image offends its customers. It demanded the hotel change its name.

The 110-page lawsuit claimed the cable reality show "Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock Hotel" on truTV portrays the hotel-casino as a haven for drunken debauchery, sexual harassment, violence and criminal behavior.
