The Yes for Gaming committee announced its plans yesterday for its kick-off rally this Friday at 3:30 p.m. on the site of the proposed casino.

According to the release, supporters are invited to attend the rally, which is marking the "full campaign for a yes vote on the casino question." The election is Nov. 2.

"There has been a groundswell of local support for this project," said Yes For

Gaming committee spokesperson Trent Summers. "For a couple of weeks now, people in Cape Girardeau have been asking how they can sign up or get involved in bringing this casino project to our community. This event is a springboard to gather our supporters and launch our efforts spreading the facts about the unquestionable positive benefits this project will bring to our community."

On Monday, the Missouri Gaming Commission gave Cape Girardeau citizens the opportunity to discuss both sides of the issue. The Yes For Gaming Committee is looking to build on the momentum at this kick-off event and begin gathering as many people as possible to speak loud and clear to the Missouri Gaming Commission showing Cape Girardeau's support for this project, the release said.

The rally will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the site of the old shoe factory downtown (Main Street at Mason) featuring comments from local supporters and community leaders. The committee will also unveil the campaign's official logo, website, and Facebook page all designed to help inform residents about the project and organize support for a decisive win in the November election.

What do you think? Will you be attending?
