New CEO of Foxwoods Casino to Be Announced - ABC News

The chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council will announce the appointment of a casino executive as CEO of the

company that owns Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Scott Butera is president and chief executive of Las Vegas-based Tropicana Entertainment Inc.

Rodney Butler, chairman of the eastern Connecticut Indian council, said he will announce Butera's appointment as head of Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Butera succeeds William Sherlock, who was named interim president in June. Sherlock, who served as Foxwoods' president and CEO from 2000 to 2006, replaced Michael Speller,

Foxwoods and neighboring Mohegan Sun have reported declines in slot revenue as visitors pulled back on spending during the recession and the weak recovery.
