Police allege man tickles casino patron before attacking her

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Police said surveillance footage caught a New York man tickling a sleeping casino patron early Sunday morning before he allegedly attacked her and fought with onlookers who came to her aid.

Bethlehem police were dispatched to the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem about 2:45 a.m. Sunday for a report of a man beating up patrons at the casino bus terminal. When police took Jean Bossier into custody pending an investigation, an officer said he smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet and had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, according to court records.

A review of surveillance footage showed Bossier sitting next to the victim in the bus terminal. After he woke her up and began tickling her, the victim can be seen on video pulling away from Bossier and pushing his hands off her, according to records.

That’s when the 58-year-old allegedly stands up, punches the victim several times and picks up a chair as if he was about to hit her with it, according to police. He allegedly punches her again in the stomach and hits the other patrons who tried to protect the victim.

Police said it took three officers to subdue Bossier to conduct a proper search at headquarters. At the time of Bossier’s arrest, authorities were unable to verify his name and birth date because he was being “combative and uncooperative,” according to records. He provided multiple addresses, leaving police unable to confirm his permanent address.

Authorities charged Bossier with single counts of disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and harassment. District Judge Antonia Grifo arraigned Bossier, setting bail at $2,500 with a 10 percent cash option. The judge allowed for unsecured bail provided pre-trial services can verify an address.

Among the bail conditions set by the judge, Bossier must undergo random drug and alcohol screens and remain drug and alcohol free. He was sent to Northampton County Prison after failing to post bail. His next court date is a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 8.
