Gaming board sets hearing on York mini-casino

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) - The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has set a date for gathering public opinion on a proposed mini-casino in Springettsbury Township.

Penn National Gaming, the owner of Hollywood Casino in Grantville, plans to open the mini-casino in the former Sears store at York Galleria.

The board will use the input when deciding whether to grant or deny a license for Hollywood Casino York. The casino initially would offer up to 500 slot machines and 20 table games, and ultimately could have up to 750 slot machines and 40 table games.

The public hearing for people to voice their support or opposition is scheduled Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Springettsbury Township Municipal Administration Building, at 1501 Mount Zion Road. The hearing begins at 10 a.m.

People who want to present testimony at the hearing must register at the board's website, www.gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov, and click the "Penn National Casino York Public Input Hearing" link under the QuickLinks section.

The deadline for registration to speak is noon on Oct. 30.
