It now appears that the Republican controlled Ohio Senate is going to reject Governor Ted Strickland's appointees to the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

Governor-elect John Kasich seems to be moving in the direction of appointing his

own list of names.

I think most of us believe that our local interests are best served if the commission also includes someone from our area.  It would be distressing to see politics get in the way of northwest Ohio being represented on this important new commission.

We may have to push to get this accomplished since Northwest Ohio rarely wins when it competes with the power cities of Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati.

Politics aside, we have a casino, we deserve a representative on the Casino Commission.
