RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- Southbound North Virginia Street is closed near the Bonanza Casino and traffic is being diverted onto Hoge Road following an accident involving a Reno Police Department vehicle.

The crash in the 4700 block of North Virginia Street involving an RPD sports utility vehicle and a gold Toyota Corolla was reported about 4:34 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2108.

The RPD vehicle was going south and the passenger car was going north and turned in front of the RPD vehicle, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Matt McLaughlin said.

There are minor injuries to the police officer. The driver of the passenger vehicle suffered injuries that the NHP said were not critical.
