Worker killed at Wynn casino site in Everett

A construction worker at the Wynn Boston Harbor casino in Everett has died "after sustaining injuries" at the site, the company said today.

“The Wynn Boston Harbor family regretfully learned this morning that a member of our construction team lost his life after sustaining injuries on our site yesterday,” Wynn spokesman Greg John said in a statement. “This is a very sad day for everyone at Wynn Boston Harbor. Our deepest condolences and heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his family and coworkers.”

The incident happened yesterday and involved a machine. John said the company is launching an investigation into the circumstances of the death.

The $2.4-billion Everett casino is the largest private development in state history, and requires thousands of workers to build. The project — embroiled in controversy following media reports earlier this year about alleged sexual misconduct by since-deposed Wynn Resorts mogul Steve Wynn — is scheduled to open in summer 2019. The state Gaming Commission is investigating Wynn’s background.
