Del Lago Resort & Casino helps Rochester bakery set one-day sales record | Local News

A Rochester bakery affiliated with an organization that supports those with developmental and intellectual disabilities is celebrating a one-day sales record after a large purchase by del Lago Resort & Casino.

The Seneca County casino bought 3,500 pies from Special Touch Bakery, which is operated by the nonprofit Holy Childhood in Rochester. The pies will be given to the casino's top patrons in December, according to a news release.

"Special Touch Bakery is an incredible asset to the region and we are thrilled to share the bakery's delicious pies with our casino guests," said Jeff Babinski, the casino's executive vice president and general manager.

The bakery was founded as a classroom exercise for students in 1982. It has grown over the last three decades. By 2002, the bakery was making 17,000 pies a year in a 700-square-foot kitchen.

This year, Special Touch moved into a new 20,000-square-foot bakery.

"We're grateful to del Lago Resort & Casino for the opportunity to showcase our delicious gourmet pies made by our dedicated team of bakers," said Joe Perdicho, Special Touch's director of bakery operations.
