A Baltimore man pleaded guilty in the armed robbery of a Columbia man who was followed home from a casino and had his winnings taken.
Prosecutors said Khalil Mohammadi, 22, was one of four men who followed the victim from the Live Casino to his home in the 6300 block of Bright Plume Court, prosecutors said. One of the suspects was armed with a gun, prosecutors said, and they took they victim’s wallet, keys and $4,800 cash— most of which were winning proceeds from Live Casino.
Assistant State’s Attorney Colleen McGuinn told the court that the casino’s video surveillance showed two men following the victim from the cashier’s window, through the casino and into the parking garage, the state’s attorney’s office said. The victim identified Mohammadi as one of two suspects who rode a casino elevator with the victim to the garage, the office said. Cameras also recorded the license plate of Mohammadi’s vehicle as it followed the victim’s Volkswagen.
The public defender’s office did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday afternoon.
Mohammadi’s co-defendant, Hayman Rajab Abdulrahman, also of Baltimore, pleaded guilty to a single count of armed robbery on August 8 and was sentenced to one year in jail and ordered to pay restitution to the victim. Also charged in the robbery was Sangar Kamal Majed, 28. Charges against him were dropped in August.
Mohammadi, of the 100 block of N. Clinton Street, faces similar charges of robbery and assault in Baltimore County involving a patron of Horseshoe Casino Baltimore. He has a hearing scheduled in that case for Oct. 10.
His sentencing in Howard County is scheduled for Nov. 8.
