Twin River Casino released a statement early Friday morning confirming a tentative settlement with the union that represents food and beverage workers, ending a strike that lasted just a few minutes.

"Twin River Management Group and Unite Here Local 26, the union which represents food and beverage personnel at Twin River Casino, are pleased to announce a settlement agreement. All employees will return to work and focus on providing an outstanding entertainment and gaming experience for our guests," a statement from the casino said.

Union workers had been on the picket line for about three minutes starting at 4 a.m. when the deal was announced.

"We have a tentative agreement. We feel very good about it. We’re holding back any details until the membership gets to review it. Members are going to get to review the agreement in its entirety and will vote by secret ballot," said Brian Lang, of Local 26.

Union members are expected to vote on the agreement in the next day or so.

"I'm so stoked. I’m so happy. I wanted to go to work tonight, and now I get to go to work tonight and I have my health care. I couldn’t be happier," said Valerie Costa, a bartender.

The dispute was over health care benefits, which the union said the casino cut at the beginning of the year.

Workers said they were demanding that health benefits be restored, family health care made more affordable, and reasonable raises.

The casino said it was prepared to operate through a strike.
