Shots fired at Downstream Casino - Story

8:20 PM:

A suspect is on the loose following an officer-involved shooting in the Downstream parking lot.

It started around two Friday afternoon when the Quapaw Tribal Marshals began an investigation into an aggravated robbery in the Downstream Casino parking lot.

Witnesses say the suspect fled on foot in a wooded area and then returned an hour later, getting into his vehicle.

When an officer approached him and ordered him to get out, the suspect drove at the officer.

That's when the agent fired shots at the man, who drove into Missouri on I-44.

The suspect has been identified as Jacoby Sammons, 19, Neosho.

It's unknown at this time if he was injured.

Anyone with any information in this case should contact the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office at (620) 429-3992.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the shots were fired by a Quapaw Tribe Marshal after a vehicle tried to run him over.

The marshal was not hurt and the vehicle then fled the scene.

According to a spokesperson with Downstream Casino, the investigation is being over seen by the Cherokee County sheriff and Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

We'll continue to post more information as it becomes available.
