2. New Q-C casino opens Thursday
Rhythm City Casino Resort is feeling a brand-new beat with an expansive new venue opening this week. The new entertainment complex at 7077 Elmore Ave., Davenport, which has been in the planning stages since 2014 and under construction for a little less than a year, will hold its grand opening Thursday. 3. Quad-Citians mourn victims in Orlando
If the reaction to a mass shooting that killed more than 50 in Florida causes people to shrink in fear, the criminals already have won, according to a Davenport alderman and co-owner of a Davenport gay bar.
“I have no better words that can express the sadness everyone feels as a result of this depraved act,” said Bill Boom, 3rd Ward, who is openly gay and co-owner of Mary’s on 2nd in Davenport.
A candlelight prayer vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Metropolitan Community Church, 2930 W. Locust St., Davenport. Read more.
