LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - The Port of Lake Charles is prepared to take legal action to force Pinnacle Entertainment to give up its hold on what was to be the site of the Sugarcane Bay casino-resort.

The port board voted 5-0 Monday to have the agency's staff use legal means

to evict Pinnacle from the 250 acres of land it leases.

Port attorney Michael Dees tells The American Press that the port and the gambling company will continue talks in an effort to have an amicable contractual split.

The issue over the lease began when Pinnacle decided not to build a multimillion dollar facility next to its L'Auberge du Lac (loh-behrzh du lahk) casino-resort.

L'Auberge spokeswoman Kerry Anderson said Pinnacle had no comment on the port's action.
