UNR grad Bauer new GM at Tahoe's MontBleu casino - BusinessWeek

The vice president of a Colorado-based casino group who got his start in northern Nevada is heading back to his old stomping grounds to be the new general manager of the MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa at Lake Tahoe.

Jef Bauer is a 45-year-old graduate of the

University of Nevada, Reno who broke into the business in the sports book at Harrah's in Reno more than two decades ago. He was the executive director of marketing for the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Casino before he was hired in 2005 as vice president and general manager of the Golden Casino Group.

Officials for Tropicana Entertainment Inc., owner of MontBleu, announced on Thursday he will oversee day-to-day operations of the 437-room hotel in Stateline with 650 employees.
