It didn’t take long for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to react to a story on GamingToday.com regarding the gambling age in that state.
And rightly so!
The board didn’t establish the age of 21
years for casino gamblers… it was set by the legislature when it passed the PA Racehorse Development and Gaming Act. But the act also caused a discrepancy in gambling age between the horse tracks (age 18) and the casinos (age 21).
Writing from the Gaming Control Board, Richard McGarvey agreed that the difference in the ages would cause confusion "and we have worked very hard to minimize the confusion for both the casinos and patrons of casinos."
McGarvey says his board and the Department of Agriculture work "on an almost daily basis to resolve (the) issue."
Now, it would seem, it’s up to the lawmakers to get into the act.
