She recognized the pair, who were 43-year-old Michelle Costello and 19-year-old Peter Costello. The mother and son team were wanted in connection with the September 20 slaying of Michelle Costello's 65-year-old husband, Bert English, in Las Vegas.
"That's when I was like oh my goodness," said Rhodes.
The mother and son were even listed on America's Most Wanted.
After some time, with the help of gaming authorities, as well as local and state police, the suspects were apprehended without incident.
"During that time I was just on pins, needles and eggshells," said Rhodes.
That's not the first time Rhodes saw Michelle and Peter Costello. The two walked into her place of employment looking for an apartment right here in Atlantic City just days ago.
"They came to my job on Thursday looking for an apartment so I actually had enough time to speak to them like I am speaking to you," said Rhodes. She said she looked up the pair and found them in news stories and on America's Most Wanted, but she never thought she would run into them face-to-face again.
"It was a coincidence that I went out Friday night and low and behold they were at Resorts, I was too and called the police," she added.
Michelle and Peter Costello jumped from one gambling town to another, only to end up in Atlantic County Jail on a no-bail fugitive warrant. All thanks to one woman, who is merely happy just to do her part to keep the community safe, and hopefully cash in on a small reward.
"No ones giving me any information so I am basically back to square one. The only thing I can say is two murders have been taken off the streets," said Rhodes.
