RUIDOSO, N.M. - A fast moving grassfire forced some fast evacuations at the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and Casino.
The wind-driven blaze began in the Gavilan Canyon.
The fire has scorched between 1,000 and 2,000 acres.
Other areas under evacuation orders are neighborhoods north of U.S. 70 in
So far, four homes and several barns near Ruidoso have been damaged.
The cause of the fire isn't known.
