Casino celebrations planned - Quad City Times

The Quad-Cities is celebrating the 20th anniversary of riverboat gaming that began April 1, 1991. As part of the community's celebration:

- The Rhythm City Casino in downtown Davenport, has dueling pianos at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.

- On Friday, the

Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf is giving a book full of coupons with a $100 value to anyone who brings in a commemorative item from 1991 to 2001. There will be a display of memorabilia in the hotel lobby. Isle also is hosting Bobby Hendricks' Drifters & The Marvelettes at 7:30 p.m. at the Quad-Cities Waterfront Convention Center.

- Jumer's Casino & Hotel in Rock Island hosts the Grey Wolfe Band from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Since 1991, the Quad-Cities has grown from 31 member hotels and 3,599 hotel rooms to 52 hotels and 5,160 hotel rooms today.

According to the 2010 Iowa Welcome Center Survey, travelers who indicated an interest in casino gaming spent 4.5 days on average for their trip and 36 percent of those surveyed said it extended their trip.

The majority of those surveyed were from Illinois and Iowa.
