Driver identified in fatal crash north of Horseshoe Casino - Louisville Courier-Journal

The driver killed in the crash of a Range Rover early Tuesday on Ind. 111 just north of Horseshoe Casino was identified by Indiana State Police as 40-year-old Paul Bryant of Louisville.

A preliminary investigation indicated Bryants SUV was northbound about 3:15 a.m. when it went off the right side of

the road and struck some mailboxes, went back on the road, crossing into the southbound lanes before overcorrecting and going back off the right side, striking a tree and overturning, Trooper David Scott said in a news release.Bryant, who had been alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Scott said Bryant had not been wearing his seatbelt and police believe a seatbelt would have significantly reduced his injuries.The crash is under investigation by the Floyd County Combined Accident Reconstruction Team and toxicology results are pending.The Floyd County Sheriffs Department, New Albany Police, New Chapel Fire Department, Yellow Emergency Medical Services and the Floyd County Coroner assisted at the scene.
