LITTLE EGG HARBOR — The man run down by his wife Friday morning died of head trauma, officials said today.

Early Friday morning, John McNulty, 73, of Lexington Drive, was walking to a bus stop leaving for work at Caesar's Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City when

his wife, Karen McNulty, 54, struck him with her silver four-door 2007 Hyundai Sonata on Center Street, two blocks away from their home, critically injuring him.

John McNulty was pronounced dead later that day at 12:35 p.m. at Atlantic City Medical Center.

Keith Gould, a recently laid-off township police officer, lives near the scene and came to the aid of John McNulty and removed the keys from the Sonata's ignition, preventing Karen McNulty from fleeing.

Karen McNulty was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated assault and posted her $150,000 bail.

Saturday afternoon she was arrested at her home with an upgraded charge of aggravated manslaughter and transported to Ocean County Jail in Toms River with bail set at $500,000 without the option to post 10 percent.

The case is being treated as a homicide, according to Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
