The Nevada Gaming Control Board reports the first increase in casino revenues statewide, after five months of declines.
Revenues were up 11.5 percent over last August. The numbers are even better on the Las Vegas Strip, where casino revenues increased by more than 21 percent.
Casino revenues increased overall in Clark County by 13.6
However, gaming expert Jeremy Aguero of Applied Analysis says, it's a little early to call this a turnaround.
According to Aguero, "The numbers are incredibly encouraging, but let's not forget, the last month the numbers were incredibly discouraging."
In fact, August was only the second time casino revenues rose statewide in 2010. The first time is in February, another month jammed with special events.
Still, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor's Authority reports that visitor volume has also been increasing steadily every month this year.
