BALTIMORE (AP) — The developer of the slots casino at Arundel Mills mall is suing rival companies, claiming they worked together to defame the company to block its plans.

The $600 million defamation and invasion of privacy suit filed Tuesday in Baltimore Circuit Court by the Cordish

Cos. accuses the Maryland Jockey Club and its owners of trying to sabotage the Maryland Live! casino. The company says they conspired with a group of Indian Trusts to defame Cordish.

The lawsuit also names Penn National Gaming, MID Developments, the owners and trustees of Indiana Downs in Shelbyville, Ind., and Frank Stronach, MID chairman. The suit covers disputes over Arundel Mills and the Indiana casino.

Club president Tom Chuckas called the suit "baseless and full of unsupported speculation and innuendo."
