Pennsylvania regulators fined the owner of Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack $70,000 for permitting underage gaming.
Harrah’s Chester Downs and Marina LLC was cited for “seven incidents of permitting underage individuals on the gaming floor and playing slot machines,” the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said Wednesday. The violations occured between Oct. 1, 2009, and March 21
By law, patrons must be at least 21 years old to operate slot machines and 18 to enter the gaming floor.
It was one of three casinos cited Wednesday.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse was fined $65,000 for three incidents, while Presque Isle Downs and Casino was fined $15,000 for two incidents.
Harrah’s was cited for an underage violation once before, in August 2008. Hollywood had been cited twice before, while this was the first such violation for Presque Isle.
Civil penalties were approved by the Gaming Control Board as part of consent agreements between the board’s office of enforcement counsel and operators of the casinos.
