The hearings will begin at 9 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel and I plan to be there to hear the pitches from all four companies that are interested in the 13th license. The commission will hold its regular monthly meeting the day before at its Jefferson City offices at 4 p.m.
It's the most important step, as far as city leaders and Isle of Capri are concerned, between now and Nov. 2, when Cape Girardeau residents will vote on the issue. (Remember, the casino issue is on the back of the ballot.)
Another important step that is expected by the end of the month is the Missouri Department of Economic Development's study. The Kansas City Star wrote a story in Tuesday's paper.
So we're less than a month from election day. I'm wondering if anyone has changed their stance on the casino issue was first brought up earlier this year.
