ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - (AP) — A porter's two kids want bicycles for Christmas, but they're not getting them.
A top cocktail server just wants to sit in the dark and watch TV.
And a woman who used to collect parking fees from a casino lot says this will be her family's worst Christmas ever.
They are among the 205 workers at Resorts Atlantic City who lost their jobs when new ownership took over Dec. 6. Nearly 500 others had their pay slashed up to 52 percent.
On Monday, their union held a charity drive, handing out used coats, hats and gloves, toys for kids and $25 grocery cards to the laid-off casino workers.
Gloria Reo, who worked nearly 30 years serving drinks, called accepting the grocery-store card the most humiliating thing she's ever done.
